Illinois Valley Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO Union Families Scholarships 2026
UNION FAMILIES SCHOLARSHIP
The Illinois Valley Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO Union Families Scholarships are available to Union members and their dependents, who are in good standing and affiliated with the Labor Council.
This $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, character, leadership, social awareness and essay quality. Qualified applicants may be considered for this scholarship for up to four (4) years of study at a qualifying institution.
Applicants must submit:
1. The completed, attached Union Families Scholarship Application form.
2. Proof of acceptance/enrollment in an accredited college, community college, or recognized technical or trade school.
3. An official transcript from their most recent school.
4. An essay of 300-500 words describing, “How will you, as an individual, support the labor movement and working families of America?”
WORKERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
If you have a member who was killed or permanently injured on the job, please contact us about our Workers’ Memorial Scholarship that is available to their family members. Dependents are eligible to receive an annual scholarship of $2,000 for up to four (4) years of study at an accredited college, community college, or recognized technical or trade school. Proof of acceptance/enrollment and a letter from the member’s Local President verifying the member’s injury on the job is required.
