2025 Voluntary Benefits
Enrollment Window: November 1 - December 1, 2025

Accidents and illnesses happen. Unfortunately, an unexpected health crisis can also include unexpected expenses and down time. We’re pleased to offer new benefits from MetLife that will provide a financial cushion when you or a family member has an accident, critical illness, or hospital stay. These coverages provide tax-free cash benefits and are available for low group rates with no medical questions asked through IBEW Local 176. |
Available Plans:
Accident Insurance
Cash benefits paid for covered injuries after an accident.
Accident Insurance provides benefits for a wide range of common injuries such as fractures, dislocations, burns, and lacerations. If you or a covered family member suffers an accident, the plan will pay a lump sum, tax-free benefit based on the type of injury and the medical services received. Common reasons this coverage is chosen by members include having children in sports, and/or participating in high risk hobbies such as motorcycling, dirt biking, or skiing.
Critical Illness Insurance
Pays lump-sum benefits for specific conditions.
Critical Illness Insurance can help fill a financial gap if you experience a serious illness such as cancer, heart attack or stroke. Upon diagnosis of a covered illness, the plan immediately pays you a lump sum, tax-free benefit. You can use the benefit however you decide. Common reasons this coverage is chosen by members include family history of cancer or heart disease, or heightened risk of contracting such diseases. There is no pre-existing condition limitation in this policy and you can not be denied coverage – no matter what your medical history or smoker status.
Hospital Indemnity Insurance
Get cash for each day you're hospitalized.
Hospital Indemnity Insurance pays a lump sum, tax-free benefit for hospital admissions and stays, including the ICU. If you and your spouse are family planning, hospital indemnity insurance may especially be worth consideration as the most common claim is hospitalization due to child birth. If you or your spouse are currently pregnant, if hospitalization occurs on or after the effective date of the policy, you WILL be due a benefit (On average $1,200 for no complications or NICU stay).
